KALTIM - Positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 in East Kalimantan Province increased by 2,225 people as of Friday, February 25. Meanwhile, the recovery increased by 1,090 people.

Spokesperson for the East Kalimantan Province COVID-19 Task Force Andi Muhammad Ishak said the highest additional positive cases still occurred in Balikpapan with 733 people.

Additional positive cases occurred in Kutai Kartanegara 400 people, Samarinda 346 people, Bontang 177 people, Berau 163 people, West Kutai 159 people, East Kutai 125 people, North Penajam Paser 60 people, Paser 58 people and Mahakam Ulu 4 people.

"In the last three days, there have been more than two thousand positive cases in East Kalimantan, so we urge the public to be more vigilant," said Andi Muhammad Ishak in Samarinda, Antara, Friday, February 25.

He said additional recovered cases occurred in Balikpapan as many as 545 people, Samarinda 170 people, Kutai Kartanegara 105 people, East Kutai 80 people, North Penajam Paser 75 people, Bontang 53 people, Berau 25 people, Paser 19 people, West Kutai 14 and Mahakam Ulu 4 people.

"There were also 7 additional deaths, with details of three people in Balikpapan and the rest in Berau, West Kutai, East Kutai and Bontang, with one person each dying," Andi explained.

He mentioned that the number of COVID-19 patients in East Kalimantan who were undergoing treatment both at home independently and in hospitals continued to increase. Currently the total number reaches 18,934 people.

Most of the patients being treated were in Balikpapan with 6,617 people, followed by Samarinda 3,363 people, Kutai Kartanegara 2,824 people, Bontang 1,718 people and East Kutai 1,618 people.

Furthermore, West Kutai 845 people, Berau 839 people, Paser 548 people, North Penajam Paser 546 people and Mahakam Ulu 17 people.

"We urge the public to be more concerned with health protocols, remember we can reduce the spike in cases in the previous year because the community is more orderly in carrying out health procedures," said Andi Muhamad Ishak.
