BANDA ACEH - The Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) said a 71-year-old man was attacked by a crocodile while trying to pick up kale in a river in Trumon District, South Aceh Regency.

Hadi Sofyan said the victim, a resident of Ujung Tanoh Village, Trumon District, South Aceh Regency, was attacked by a crocodile while trying to pick kale in Krueng (river) Itam, a local village.

Keuchik (village head) Ujong Tanoh, Trumon District, Saiful Arif South Aceh Regency in South Aceh, said residents were attacked by a protected animal named Hasanuddin (71).

"The crocodile attack occurred on Wednesday (23/2) at around 15.00 WIB. At that time, the victim was about to pick kale in the river, but suddenly a crocodile appeared and attacked him immediately," said Saiful Arif.

As a result of the attack, said Saiful Arif, the victim was bitten, causing severe injuries to his right hand. The victim's right arm was almost severed by a crocodile bite.

The victim was found lying on the Krueng Hitam bridge with severe injuries. Residents who found the victim immediately took him to the nearest health center, said Saiful Arif.

"Furthermore, the victim was referred to the Yuliddin Away Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Tapaktuan, the capital of South Aceh Regency, for further treatment," said Saiful Arif.
