Impact Of Price Increase, Dozens Of Beef Sellers At Pasar Senen Will Strike

JAKARTA - Around 50 beef sellers at Pasar Senen Block III, Central Jakarta, are still selling their wares even though prices continue to soar.

According to VOI monitoring at Pasar Senen Block III, beef traders are still doing their normal activities as usual, serving buyers.

Some of the beef stalls / stalls look empty. According to the trader, the vacant stall was closed because the merchandise had run out in the morning.

"Today we are still selling, we are taking a break. We are selling until Sunday (the day after tomorrow)," said Suhaili, one of the local and imported beef traders to VOI at the location, Friday, February 25, noon.

The man who has been selling since 2014 said that beef traders at Pasar Senen Block III are still selling until Sunday, the day after tomorrow.

"There are approximately 50 beef traders in Pasar Senen who are still selling. Later, on Monday, we all go on strike," he said.

Even though the price of local beef is increasing, Suhaili still sells at prices that follow the standards at Pasar Senen.

"As of today, I sell local beef at a price of 125 thousand to 130 thousand per kilogram. Meanwhile, I sell imported beef at 110 to 115 thousand per kilogram," he said.

Suhaili said that at the Pasar Senen Block III beef stall, all of the traders selling were still there.

"It's still full of trade. Regarding price increases, there will definitely be complaints from consumers," he said.

The same thing was also said by the Manager of Area 1 Central Jakarta of Perumda Pasar Jaya, M. Yamin. According to him, none of the beef traders in Pasar Senen Block III did not open their business premises.

"No beef traders are on strike, yes (still selling normally). We will continue to monitor it," Yamin said when contacted by VOI, Friday, February 25.

Yamin also said that the beef traders in Pasar Senen Block III had no plans to strike.

"There is no plan (meat traders strike), not yet. We'll see how far it progresses," he said.
