JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo issued a regulation that allows business entities to vaccinate against COVID-19.

This is contained in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 33 of 2022 concerning the Third Amendment to Presidential Regulation no. 99 of 2020 concerning the Procurement of Vaccines and Implementation of Vaccinations in the Context of Combating the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic which was stipulated on February 21, 2022.

"In administering the COVID-19 Vaccination as referred to in paragraph (1), the government may involve legal entities and/or business entities," said Article 1A paragraph 2 of the regulation as quoted by Antara from the State Secretariat page, Thursday, February 24.

The regulation states that between Article 1 and Article 2 in Presidential Regulation Number 99 of 2020 concerning Vaccine Procurement and Vaccination Implementation in the Context of Overcoming the COVID-19 Pandemic, it has been amended several times, namely Presidential Decree No. 14 of 2021 and Presidential Decree No. 50 of 2021, then one article was inserted, namely Article 1A.

In Presidential Decree No. 99 of 2020 it is stated that the implementer of the COVID-19 vaccine is the government (article 1).

Furthermore, in Presidential Decree No. 14 of 2021 regulates that the implementer of vaccine procurement is assigned to State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and cooperation with international institutions/agencies as regulated in article 2.

Then in Presidential Decree No. 50 of 2021 it is stated that the procurement of vaccines is assigned to SOEs, direct appointments to supplying bodies or cooperation with international institutions/agencies (article 11 A).

Lastly, Presidential Decree No. 33 of 2022 allows business entities to vaccinate against COVID-19 (article 1A).
