Accompanying Mother Washing Dishes, 6-year-old Boy Dies In 20 Meter Deep Well

JAKARTA - A boy with the initials BP (6) was found dead after falling into a well at his house on Jalan Belly, Mekar IV alley, Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta.

The incident occurred when the BP victim was playing near a well 20 meters deep. The victim's body was successfully evacuated by the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept.

"We have deployed five personnel to evacuate the victim. At around 15.13 WIB, the victim's body was found from the well. The victim was evacuated dead," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Head Gatot Sulaeman to reporters, Thursday, February 24.

Based on the testimony of eyewitnesses at the scene, said Gatot, the unfortunate incident began when the victim's mother was washing dishes. The location of the victim's mother and BP is quite close.

"Then the victim played near the well and then fell," said Gatot.

When the victim fell into the well, the BP victim still had time to scream for help from a depth of 20 meters full of water.

"The child had asked for help, but over time the victim's voice disappeared and was no longer heard," he said.

The victim's body was evacuated by rescue officers using other safety aids. The victim was then taken to the hospital for further processing.
