JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cengkareng Police has named WN, a former member of the National Police as a suspect in the case of mistreatment of YS on Jalan Kapuk RT 15/12, Kapuk Village, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta.

Although named a suspect, Cengkareng Police investigators did not detain WN. The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cengkareng Police, AKP Rahmad, said that if the victim was seriously injured or died, then his party would detain the former member of the Penjaringan Metro Police.

"Now the police are working, the investigation of the suspect is left with the paperwork, there is no problem, they just don't like that person, the victim," said AKP Rahmad, Thursday, February 24.

Because the filing is almost complete, the investigators plan to send the files to the West Jakarta District Attorney.

"The case is over, if you say the former policeman has been around for a long time. Now it's civil, tomorrow I'll send the file, it's finished, there's no problem," he said.

In response to this case, National Police Commissioner Poengky Indarti asked the Cengkareng Police to process the law for criminals in a professional, transparent and accountable manner.

Especially in this case, the report made by victim YS (35) was long ago on May 10, 2021.

"Fast, professional, transparent and accountable work will increase public confidence, especially reporters, in the Polri institution," Poengky told reporters, Thursday, February 24.

Even though he has been named a suspect, Poengky said it was the authority of the Cengkareng Police investigators.

According to him, if it is considered that the perpetrators will not run away, there is no need to detain evidence and other items.

"If the punishment for the reported case is less than five years, the investigator can decide not to detain him," he said.

If in the process there is a threat to the victim, then the perpetrator must be detained. So that the victim feels safe and protected by detaining the suspect of assaulting a former member of the Police.

"To avoid this threat, investigators are expected to detain the perpetrators," he said.

Previously, it was reported that YS (35) was a victim of abuse by former members of the National Police in the Cengkareng area, West Jakarta. The victim had suffered bruising on the right upper lip, cheek and under the eye.
