Persecutors Of KNPI Chairman Have Been Arrested, But Police Are Asked To Reveal Motives Behind Beatings Allegedly Have Political Content

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Metro Police have arrested three perpetrators of the beating of the General Chair of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI), Haris Pertama. The three perpetrators were arrested in Tanjung Priok and Bekasi. However, some hope that the police will reveal the motive behind the incident. And who is the intellectual actor.

In this case, two suspects namely, MS and JT are charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, SS was charged with Article 55 of the Criminal Code regarding participating in assisting crimes.

Responding to the arrest of the three perpetrators of the beating, Damai Hari Lubis activist appreciated the performance of the Police for working quickly in arresting the perpetrators of the persecution of Haris Pertama.

"We hope that the Polri apparatus can immediately reveal the modus operandi or motivation of the perpetrators," he said when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, February 24.

Damai also urged the National Police to dismantle the actor, or the person who ordered the act.

"Because there are indications that the perpetrators of the persecution are just executioners. There is a political motive behind the perpetrators' brains," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the Chairman of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI) Haris Pertama was persecuted by a group of youths on Monday, February 21. When attacked, Haris was at the Garuda Cikini restaurant, Menteng, Central Jakarta. As a result of the incident Haris suffered injuries to his face.
