JAKARTA - The Tourism Office of Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara confirmed that there have been no reports of hotel cancellations from MotoGP guests due to the spike in COVID-19 cases nationally.

At least the zero report was obtained from data from hotel entrepreneurs who are members of the Mataram Hotel Association (AHM).

"So far we have not received a report from AHM regarding MotoGP guests canceling hotel room orders and according to AHM the occupancy rate is still normal, which is around 60 percent," said Head of the Mataram City Tourism Office (Dispar) H Nizar Denny Cahyadi in Mataram, Tuesday 22 February quoted from Antara.

Moreover, at this time the transmission of COVID-19 in general, especially in the city of Mataram, has begun to slow down, with a decrease in the number of positive COVID-19 findings every day.

This condition certainly has a positive impact on tourism business actors who are preparing to welcome the grand MotoGP event which is scheduled to take place on March 18-20 2022 at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok Regency.

"Although it is held in Central Lombok, as a buffer zone, we also play a role in preparing various accommodation needs," he said.

Related to that, continued Denny, for the need for hotel rooms in Mataram, 4,730 hotel rooms have been prepared, both star and non-star hotels. While the number of MotoGP spectators is predicted to reach more than 70 thousand people.

A total of 4,730 hotel rooms were prepared in the form of rooms not beds. This means that the capacity for MotoGP spectators and tourists can be more than the availability of these rooms, because one room has two beds.

"On average, star hotels are fully booked by MotoGP spectators. While there are still jasmine hotels that are not yet full, but many potential guests have asked questions," he said.

Therefore, to help marketing jasmine hotels, Denny added, his party will be assisted by the West Nusa Tenggara Province Dispar, including a team from the Hospitality of Indonesia Network (HIN).
