JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the request for money by the inactive Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi or Pepen to the state civil apparatus (ASN) and private parties in Bekasi City.

This investigation was carried out by examining four people on Monday, February 21 yesterday. They were examined as witnesses to complete Pepen's file.

"The investigative team has finished examining witnesses for suspects RE and friends," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri in a written statement, Tuesday, February 22.

Ali said the witnesses examined by investigators were the Head of the Bekasi City BKPSDM Karto; Bantargebang Village Head Satim Susanto; Head of Jati Bening Baru Village, Mulyadi; and a private party named Peter.

"The witnesses were present and their knowledge was examined, among others, related to the flow of a sum of money received and allegedly at the request of the suspect RE who came from the Bekasi City Government ASN as well as private parties working on various projects in the Bekasi City Government," he said.

Actually, the Corruption Eradication Commission will also examine another witness, namely Kasi Datun at the Bekasi City Attorney's Office, Anton Laronono. However, he was not present and will be rescheduled. Pepen together with the Secretary of the Investment Office and PTSP, M Bunyamin; Head of Jatisari Village, Mulyadi; Jatisampurna Sub-district Head, Wahyudin; and the Head of the Bekasi City Housing, Settlement and Land Office, Jumhana Lutfi, were named as recipients of bribes.

Meanwhile, the four suspected givers are the Director of PT MAM Energindo, Ali Amril; private party, Lai Bui Min; Director of Kota Bintang Rayatri, Suryadi; and the sub-district head of Rawalumbu, Makhfud Saifudin.
