Police Will Check Owner Of Miftahul Khoiri Islamic Boarding School Where 8 Underage Students Died Of Fire

KARAWANG - The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Grand Commissioner Pol. Ibrahim Tompo, said his party would investigate the owner of the Miftahul Khoirot Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), Cilamaya Kulon, Karawang Regency. However, the inspection will be carried out in stages.

For information, the incident occurred on Monday, February 21, at 13.00 western Indonesia time. The incident killed eight students and two people suffered burns. The students who became victims were on average 15 years old.

"The inspection will still be carried out, but in stages," said Ibrahim when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, February 22.

Ibrahim said that the examination of the owner of the boarding school would look at the needs of the previous witnesses. If needed, then he will be examined.

"We see the need for testimony," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the police had examined three witnesses in the fire incident at the Miftahul Khoirot Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes). The witnesses had the initials RA, MR, and AS.

"Most of the students, only one caregiver is being examined at this time. Later we will do more deepening," said Ibrahim.

Ibrahim Tompo said that the incident occurred on Monday, February 21, at 13.00 western Indonesia time. He explained that the incident began when one of the witnesses saw a short circuit in the fan which gave off sparks. Then the sparks fell on the mattress until it finally caught fire and spread to other flammable materials.
