Only 200 Elderly Recipients Of COVID Vaccines In Jayawijaya, Health Office: There Are Co-morbidities To Be Selective

PAPUA - The Jayawijaya Regency Government, Papua Province has ensured that at least 200 elderly people in this district have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Head of the Jayawijaya Health Office, Doctor Willy Mambieuw, said that his party was still continuing to open vaccination services for the elderly.

"I forgot the latest data, but there are around 100 to 200 based on reports from friends from the immunization section, both those who were vaccinated for the first and second," he said in Wamena, Antara, Monday, February 21.

Willy Mambieuw ensured that the low vaccination rate for the elderly was not because the elderly refused to be vaccinated. They want to be vaccinated, but the officers don't immediately give it.

"In the name of the elderly, there must be comorbidities, such as sugar, hypertension, gout and all kinds of things, so that friends at these health facilities are more selective, so that what is truly safe can only be given vaccines," he said.

The local government encourages all elderly people who can be vaccinated to receive antibodies to protect them from the threat of the COVID-19 virus.

"So all districts that have elderly people who have not been vaccinated should be vaccinated, only socialization to these districts has not yet arrived, but all of them must be vaccinated, not only in cities," he said.

Data from the Jayawijaya COVID-19 team on February 21 stated that the corona cases had increased to 145 compared to February 20 which only had 143 cases.
