KARAWANG - A building at the Miftahul Khoirot Islamic Boarding School, Manggungjaya Village, Cilamaya Kulon District, Karawang Regency, West Java, was scorched in a fire that occurred on Monday, February 21.

"The fire suddenly appeared and grew," said Manggungjaya village head, Dedi Embun when contacted in Karawang as reported by Antara.

He said the fire was believed to have been caused by an electrical short. Because suddenly a fire emerged from a room which then burned the two-story Islamic boarding school building.

The students and local residents immediately tried to extinguish the fire with improvised tools, while waiting for the Karawang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Fire Brigade. nap.

"The information is that there were several students trapped inside the building when the fire broke out," he said.

Meanwhile, a number of firefighters from the Karawang BPBD managed to extinguish the fire for more than two hours.

According to information gathered from the village and sub-district authorities, several students were killed. However, at this time the local police are still conducting investigations related to the fire incident that occurred at the boarding school.
