PT SIMP Allegedly Hoarding 1.1 Million Kg Of Cooking Oil, Police Ensure 30 Thousand Tons Will Be Distributed In Deli Serdang

JAKARTA - The National Police's Food Task Force stated that the company caught hoarding 1.1 million kg of cooking oil will distribute part of it to the Deli Serdang area, North Sumatra. Distribution will take place over three days.

"From the results of the Food Task Force's supervision today, 30 thousand tons will be distributed to the public. Finally, until Wednesday, all cooking oil in North Sumatra, especially in Deli Serdang, will be distributed until Wednesday," said Deputy Chief of the National Police Food Task Force Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan to reporters, Monday, February 21. .

Tens of thousands of tons of cooking oil will be distributed to all traditional and modern markets. The distribution is done so that there is no shortage of cooking oil in the community

"These goods in Deli Serdang are distributed in three days through market mechanisms in all traditional markets and modern markets," said Whisnu.

While regarding the alleged hoarding, Whisnu said his party was still investigating. Because, according to the regulation of Presidential Regulation 71 of 2015 the crime of hoarding can fulfill the elements if the goods are not distributed for three months.

"There is a rule where companies that store things that have not been distributed for 3 months are not distributed as hoarders," he said.

Previously, the pile of cooking oil found by the Food Task Force Team of North Sumatra Province in Deli Serdang Regency, turned out to belong to PT Salim Ivomas Pratama Tbk (SIMP). Unmitigated pile of cooking oil that is ready to be marketed amounted to 1.1 million kilograms.

Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Government's Economic Bureau, Naslindo Sirait, stated that the reason the company was hoarding cooking oil was because they were afraid of losing money. Where, currently the government has determined the highest retail price (HET) of Rp. 14 thousand.

"When we asked why it was being held up like this, they submitted their complaints, afraid of losing the HET now," said Naslindo.
