AMBON - The Maluku Police do not yet know the type of bullet that was fired at the victim by an unknown person (OTK) in the conflict on the border between Aboru and Hulaliu, Haruku Island District, Central Maluku Regency on February 15, 2022.

"The type of bullet is unknown. But we are here now trying to save the lives of the victims who are currently being treated at the RST," said the Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes M Roem Ohoirat, in Ambon, as reported by Antara, Monday, February 21.

He said that currently the joint security forces are still focused on recovering post-conflict conditions, as well as recovering the victims who are still being treated at the hospital.

"Let's just pray for the health and healing of the person concerned. Here, one of the victims is also one of our members, so please stop talking that the police are slow or something," said Roem.

According to him, post-conflict, joint security forces have often carried out raids and appealed to hand over firearms stored in the community.

"We always give an appeal, as long as the community has good intentions to hand over weapons to the TNI and Polri, of course we will not proceed legally," said Roem.

However, said Roem again, if it is found directly, then of course it will be processed according to the rules and regulations that already apply.

"So please, let's give up our weapons for the sake of peace and security and public order (kamtibmas). Because as long as the weapons are still there, there could be another conflict incident,” he said.

“All the basudara who are here want to be safe, peaceful, and carry out their usual activities. So please, if anyone still has weapons, please give them to us in a kind manner," said Roem.

Previously, a team of doctors from the Army Hospital (RST) Level II, dr. JA Latumeten Ambon, had carried out an operation to remove a bullet projectile lodged in the body of a resident who was shot by an unknown person (OTK) on Haruku Island, Central Maluku Regency.

The patient was a victim of the OTK shooting on the border between Aboru and Hulaliu on February 15, 2022.

Before the operation was carried out, the team of doctors first conducted a rapid antigen test and it was found that the patient was positive for COVID-19.

The operation was carried out immediately and did not wait for the patient to recover from COVID-19, given the condition of the wound that could rot and his leg could be amputated which put the patient's life at risk.
