JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan held a groundbreaking ceremony for a waste processing facility in Bantargebang, Bekasi, West Java.

This Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant facility is a fuel plant derived from old waste that was mined from mountains of landfill waste. The calorific value of RDF is equivalent to light coal.

Anies revealed, this waste processing can process thousands of tons, both new waste and waste that has been collected at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST).

"This is projected to be up to 2,000 tons, in detail 1,000 tons of new waste and 1,000 tons of existing waste in the Bantargebang area. This project is expected to be one of the downstream solutions regarding waste management, which has been sent to the Bantargebang area," said Anies at the Bantargebang TPST, Monday, February 21.

On that occasion, the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) today also handed over the assets of the Red and White Waste Power Plant (PLTSa) to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

Furthermore, Anies asked everyone to ensure and remind their surroundings, both at households and restaurants, to manage the waste that is thrown away before going to the landfill.

"Every household pays attention to whether it has been sorted or not, whether it has been reduced or not. Then the industry is like that," said Anies. Our Jakarta is a comfortable city and the waste can be managed properly," he continued.

Anies also asked the community to reduce the waste they produce. People need to sort out recyclable waste. Meanwhile, residual waste that cannot be recycled can be used.

"Let's take advantage of the residue so that it doesn't become garbage and let's sort it out, so that it helps in management," he added.
