Protesting Alleged Hoarding Of Cooking Oil, Netizens Boost #SalimGroupNimbunMigor, Pak Jokowi Must Step In

JAKARTA - The allegation of hoarding cooking oil by a subsidiary of PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk, PT Salim Ivomas Pratama Tbk (SIMP) in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra has been highlighted by netizens.

As of Sunday, February 20, cooking oil and the hashtag #SalimGroupNimbunMigor were trending on social media, Twitter following the discovery of 1.1 million kilograms of cooking oil or the equivalent of 80 thousand cartons.

The santri community of Gus Nadirsyah Hosen, Khazanah GNH via their Twitter account also opened their voices with this shocking finding. This finding should be the attention of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"Mr. @jokowi the state must not lose to the cooking oil mafia," said Khazanah GNH quoted on Twitter, @na_dirs quoted on Sunday, October 20.

This situation is clearly ironic with the state of society. How not, in the last few weeks, news about scarcity and soaring cooking oil prices has colored the news.

Previously, the North Sumatra Food Task Force consisting of a team from the North Sumatra Police, the North Sumatra Provincial Secretariat of the Economy and the North Sumatra Industry and Trade Office, Friday, February 18 found that 1.1 million liters of cooking oil were in a warehouse in the Deli Serdang area.

Meanwhile, according to market monitoring, the price of bulk and packaged cooking oil is still expensive at around Rp. 18,000 and Rp. 20,000 per liter.

The Head of Domestic Trade at the North Sumatra Industry and Trade Office, Barita Sihite, said cooking oil prices are still expensive, even though demand is trending downwards.

A subsidiary of PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk, PT Salim Ivomas Pratama Tbk (SIMP) denied the finding of millions of kilograms of cooking oil was hoarding. A total of 1.1 million kilograms of cooking oil or the equivalent of 80 thousand cartons is stock for shipments carried out in the next 2-3 days.

The stockpiled stock is claimed to be ready to be distributed, not stockpiled. All available stock, are orders and ready to be distributed to customers in the next few days.

The company's cooking oil, including those in the Deliserdang warehouse, will be prioritized to meet the cooking oil needs of the instant noodle factories in the group of companies, including those in Deli Serdang. The rest will be processed into branded cooking oil in various sizes and partly for cooking oil that is distributed to the public.
