MPR Chairman Reminds The Importance Of The Spirit Of Defending The Nation

JAKARTA - The Chairperson of the MPR RI as well as the Deputy Chairperson of the Retired Son and Daughter Communication Forum and the TNI-Polri (FKPPI) Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet) reminded the importance of the spirit of defending the country.

Bambang Soesatyo, who is also the Head of the FKPPI State Defense Agency in his statement in Jakarta, Friday, February 18, will unite the 'children under' in various parts of Indonesia to participate in guarding and be loyal to the Sapta Marga, namely as the doctrine of TNI soldiers, Tribrata, and Catur Prasetya as the doctrine members of the National Police in facing various challenges that try to divide the nation through an anti-tolerance movement that pits ethnicity, race, and religion against each other.

According to him, the mingling of military and non-military threats has caused a paradigm shift in the conception of national security which is no longer visible and conventional, but complex, multidimensional, and ideological in nature.

"This is where the importance of building the spirit of defending the country as inherited from our parents in the TNI-Polri," said Bamsoet.

The 20th chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives and former Chair of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives for Law, Human Rights and Security explained that defending the state is a collective effort.

This, he said, is in accordance with the universal national defense system by involving all citizens, regions, and other national resources.

The key to successfully defending the country, according to him, is the realization of synergy and solidity of all supporting elements of the country's defense system.

"The state defense system that we have built has been adapted to the types and potential threats that will be faced, for example in facing military threats, the TNI is at the forefront as the main component, supported by reserve components and other state defense supporters, such as FKPPI," he said.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Pancasila Youth explained that FKPPI would make state defense programs not only carried out at the central level but also in every region.

One of them, he said, was to build cooperation with the Ministry of Defense so that FKPPI members could be involved in the formation of the 2022 reserve component which is targeted to reach 2,500 personnel.

As the guardian of the Pancasila ideology, he said that FKPPI must always be at the forefront of the nation in inviting various elements of society to be involved in defending the country which is not only interpreted as a physical struggle.

State defense has a broad spectrum, covering many aspects and dimensions. Then, he said, the concept of national resilience was shaped by various aspects, including political resilience, economic resilience, socio-cultural security, and food security.

"Loving domestic products, advancing national culture, and protecting local wisdom values, such as deliberation and mutual cooperation are part of implementing state defense," said Bamsoet.
