GARUT - Garut Regent Rudy Gunawan brings good news for the community. In early March, the central government will flood the stock of packaged cooking oil at a price of Rp. 14,000/liter.

"As of March 1, 2022, it will be flooded with (cooking oil) at a price of Rp. 14,000 (per liter)," Rudy Gunawan told reporters in Garut, Antara, Friday, February 18.

The supply of cooking oil was abundant in early March based on information from a WhatsApp group of local governments throughout Indonesia. That the Indonesian Ministry of Trade will prepare a lot of cooking oil to the regions at a price of Rp. 14 thousand per liter.

"The Deputy Minister of Trade will clear it in March, I hope," said the Regent.

So far, the availability of cooking oil in the market is scarce. Even when they enter a supermarket or modern retail, they don't last long because they are immediately bought up by buyers. Meanwhile, in the Guntur Garut Main Market, packaged cooking oil is still scarce.

"Even if there is a price that is more expensive than the price recommended by the government, which is Rp. 14 thousand per liter," explained Rudy.

Head of Sub-Division of UPTD Main Market, Guntur Yusep Suryaman, added that the scarcity of cooking oil has been going on for quite a long time.

Meanwhile, bulk cooking oil, he said, is currently quite available in the market, but the price is more than the price of packaged cooking oil, which can reach up to Rp. 18,200 per liter.

"The stock of bulk oil is still there, but the price is far above the HET set by the government," he said.
