JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno stated that the development and development of human resources must continue even though COVID-19 still exists.

"HR must have skills that are in accordance with the new era of tourism, namely quality and sustainable tourism based on nature and culture," said Sandiaga in a written statement, Friday, February 18.

Regarding the development of tourism human resources in Indonesia, Sandiaga Uno appreciated Diageo Indonesia and the British Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Britcham Indonesia) who started the cooperation in implementing the Learning for Life program in Indonesia.

The Learning for Life program is part of the Society's 2030 commitment, Diageo's 10-year plan to create a more inclusive and sustainable world.

According to Sandiaga, through Learning for Life, Diageo supports workers in various countries in honing skills and increasing job opportunities.

Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno said every country in the world has suffered and will compete fiercely to regain its share of the global tourism market.

"We must be able to compete and be better, including in terms of creativity and excellence. I am happy to have this opportunity and welcome the initiative of Diageo and the British Chamber," said Sandiaga Uno.

Sandiaga Uno added, Learning for Life is an impressive thing. First of all, because the target of this program is young adults who have been laid off from the service and hospitality industry.

Second, knowing the purpose of this program is to improve service standards and skills. And third, the program provides a better critical understanding of how the service and hospitality business works.

This fantastic opportunity, as well as the partnership between Diageo and the British Chamber, is of great importance to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

"As we recover, we will need to re-establish tourism links with the UK. Learning for Life, a learning skills improvement program run by a British brand, is the right thing to do as it will attract the attention of the British public," he said.

Apart from providing support, Sandiaga Uno also wants to take this opportunity to send a message to British citizens. "We are ready and excited to welcome you back to visit the charms of Indonesia," he said.
