LPSK Gives Rp6.1 Billion To 43 Victims Of Past Terrorism In Bali

DENPASAR - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) paid compensation for 43 victims of past terrorism (KTML) who are domiciled in Bali in the amount of Rp6,165,000,000.

"Victims of criminal acts of terrorism in the past are now domiciled in Bali, why is that because there were victims in other incidents and domiciled in Bali. They became victims of the events in Poso and they live in Bali, for victims of past crimes of terrorism, this is the last one," said LPSK Chairman Hasto Atmojo Suroyo during the handover of compensation at the Bali governor's office, Denpasar, Friday, February 18.

He said that of the 43 victims, both direct victims and heirs of the deceased, consisted of 8 heirs of the deceased, 4 seriously injured, 25 moderately injured and 6 lightly injured. The recipient is a victim of the Bali Bombings I and Bali Bombing II, the shooting incident in Paunica Village, Poso.

LPSK chairman Hasto Atmojo Suroyo said these 43 people were part of the 357 KTML people identified by LPSK and BNPT and were declared eligible to receive compensation.

A total of 357 victims came from 57 past terrorism incidents spread across 19 provinces in Indonesia, and foreigners and Indonesian citizens living in the United States, Germany, Australia, Canada and the Netherlands.

"The total compensation value for 355 victims (KTML) amounted to Rp. 59,220,000,000 which has been paid. Meanwhile, for two more people (compensation payments) will be completed at the beginning of this year," he explained.

According to Hasto, the submission of this compensation is an implementation of Law no. 5 of 2018 and PP Number 35 of 2020.

"Past victims were counted from the Bali Bombing I and at that time a Perpu was issued regarding the eradication of criminal acts of terrorism. from 2002 to 2018," he said.

It was explained that Law no. 5 of 2018 is a very progressive regulation and shows siding with victims of terrorism. He said that what was special about this law was the emergence of legal breakthroughs that opened up opportunities for victims of past terrorism to get compensation without going through court.

For the details of the compensation received, namely based on the degree of injury, from minor injuries worth Rp. 75,000,000, moderate injuries Rp. 115,000,000, and serious injuries Rp. 210,000,000. Meanwhile, the heirs of the deceased will receive compensation of Rp. 250,000,000.
