JAKARTA - Member of Commission V of Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Novita Wijayanti reminded the National Search and Rescue Agency (BNPP/Basarnas) to increase the number of Human Resources (HR) personnel. Basarnas also needs to improve the quality of human resources through training.

This was conveyed by Novita during the Commission V DPR RI Working Meeting led by the Chair of Commission V DPR RI Lasarus with the Minister of Transportation, Head of BNPP/Basarnas, Head of BMKG, Police Headquarters, and Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) which was held physically and virtually in the DPR RI Commission V Meeting Room, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday 17 February.

“I remind Basarnas to increase the number of HR personnel, considering that Indonesia is a high disaster area or prone to disasters. I think Basarnas is still lacking in the number of human resources. In addition to adding HR personnel, it is also important to increase training and optimizing tools in the field. All of this requires a fast response, so there is a need for additional human resources," said Novita.

In addition, this Gerindra Party politician appealed to the Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to always be able to provide up to date information on climate weather. BMKG, Novita requested, can also improve coordination between institutions and community training. Novita said that BMKG and Basarnas could collaborate with various other elements of society to be able to conduct training.

Novita appreciated the smooth operation of the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2021-2022 which went well, especially in handling COVID-19.

"The handling of Nataru last year was very satisfying, so I personally appreciate it. For that, in the future during Lebaran, it is also hoped that the handling can run optimally, especially by the Minister of Transportation through various regulations according to people's expectations," said the Leader of the DPR BURT.
