JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian absorbs the aspirations of the executive and legislative ranks in the East Kalimantan area to draft regulations derived from the State Capital Law (UU IKN).

The regulation is in the form of a government regulation (PP) which is being prepared by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Efforts to absorb aspirations were carried out by the Minister of Home Affairs through coordination meetings with the Governor of East Kalimantan, Isran Noor, regents/mayors throughout East Kalimantan, along with a number of local DPRD ranks.

"One of its derivatives (PP) is regarding the authority of the State Capital because of its special status," said Tito Karnavian in his statement in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, February 17.

Minister of Home Affairs Tito said that the specificity in question was the IKN government system which was formed at the provincial level, led by a head of authority equivalent to a minister appointed by the President. However, the status of the Head of the IKN Authority is different from that of the City of Batam, which only relates to infrastructure development.

The Head of the IKN Authority is in charge of building infrastructure and carrying out government operations, as well as fostering the community.

The Minister of Home Affairs said that to accelerate development in the IKN area, the head of the authority must be given broad authority as long as it does not conflict with the law. This authority relates to concurrent government affairs which are delegated to local governments.

"Well, for that, of course, I have to communicate with the executive and legislative branches of East Kalimantan, both at the provincial, district/city levels, which are related to their territory and are neighbors with the National Capital of the Archipelago," said the Minister of Home Affairs.

In the coordination meeting, according to the Minister of Home Affairs, in principle, governors, regents/mayors, as well as local DPRD ranks, fully support the steps to accelerate IKN development. "I see a very strong commitment (support)," said the Minister of Home Affairs.

In addition, a number of coordination meeting participants also provided input on IKN development. The input, for example, is related to their hopes that the surrounding area will be considered during the IKN development.

This is to prevent uneven development conditions between IKN and the surrounding area.

The Minister of Home Affairs emphasized that his party would immediately try to complete the PP derived from the Law on IKN. Thus, regulations can be immediately disseminated to the regions.

"While the road remains in communication with the ranks in East Kalimantan," he said.
