SEMARANG - President Joko Widodo appreciated the performance of the Central Java Provincial Government and related parties for the achievement and acceleration of COVID-19 vaccination in Central Java Province.

"Thanks to the Governor, Commander of the Military Command and Police Chief for the achievements that have been continuously pursued in Central Java, especially the Mayor of Semarang", President Jokowi said online at the Mass Vaccination activity at the Sam Poo Kong Temple, Semarang, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 17.

Most importantly, President Jokowi continued, the percentage for COVID-19 vaccination in Central Java is already high.

"Then the progress is maintained. I don't think Central Java will rise too high (COVID-19 cases, thank you everyone", said the President.

Responding to this, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said that the overall COVID-19 vaccination in Central Java was going well.

"The first vaccine is 90.32 percent, the second is 72.35 percent, equivalent to 20,784,304 and the third dose of vaccine is only 3.69 percent, the total for Central Java is equivalent to 1,058,765", said Ganjar.

For the third dose of vaccine, Ganjar said the areas with high achievement were the cities of Semarang, Surakarta, Salatiga, and Tegal, even in the city of Semarang the daily dose of the vaccine was 10,000 doses.

"We will see if we talk about the third dose, this is indeed the City of Magelang, Semarang City, Surakarta City, Salatiga City, and Tegal City, the characteristics of these cities are all fast. Quite high, but there are still things that need attention", he said.

However, in several areas, namely Purworejo, Magelang, Pemalang, Tegal, and Brebes districts, the achievement of the dose one vaccine has not yet reached one hundred percent.

"Even though the numbers are already high, for example, Brebes 79.93 others are above 80 percent, we ask for the other dose of vaccine to get a hundred", he said.

Related to this, Ganjar encouraged the team from the Central Java Provincial Government with their vaccine car to move to help accelerate the vaccination.

In line with vaccination, Ganjar also reported to President Jokowi about preparations in the regions to deal with increasing cases, such as re-activating a centralized isolation area and using the Delta variant of the response scenario.
