TNI Soldiers Don't Break The Law, Commander-in-Chief Andika Seriously Monitors This Issue

JAKARTA - The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) General TNI Andika Perkasa asked his staff in charge of law enforcement to report regularly regarding the handling of criminal cases and disciplinary violations involving TNI soldiers.

Andika asked his staff to convey the concept of disciplinary punishment that will be given to the soldiers, if they are found guilty of violating the law.

"I want to know what the concept of disciplinary punishment is. I want everything submitted (the legal team) to be checked. Don't let anything that is not included in the list, not be included in the disciplinary punishment," Andika said in a regular meeting with his staff, as quoted from the Youtube channel. Andika also instructed his staff at the Military Oditurat to sue the panel of judges, who imposed the maximum sentence on the perpetrators of stabbing involving TNI soldiers. He did not specify the stabbing case he mentioned at the meeting.

However, there was one case of a stabbing that killed an Army (AD) soldier in January 2022, which was carried out by a civilian in North Jakarta.

"I just leave it like that, later my prosecution plan wants to be maximized. That's what carried out the direct stabbing of pride, it was very cruel," said Andika.

According to him, the maximum punishment for TNI soldiers who violate the law needs to be done so that there is a deterrent effect.

"It must be, so that it becomes a lesson too," he said.

Therefore, Andika reminded his staff in the Military Oditurat and investigators not to be careless when handling legal cases involving TNI soldiers.

"Don't let Odmil and investigators be fooled. You have to be careful. There is no solution other than the legal process," he said.

In a working meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta some time ago, Andika said that his party was overseeing 35 legal cases involving TNI soldiers.

Of the dozens of cases, one that attracted public attention was the killing of two civilians by three TNI soldiers in Nagreg, West Java.

Army Chief of Staff (Kasad) General TNI Dudung Abdurachman said the legal process for the three TNI soldiers who carried out the murder awaited trial.
