SEMARANG - The Central Java Regional Police (Polda) arrested four members of a gang of thieves with the modus operandi of blocking an ATM machine that operated across provinces. The Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol. Djuhandani, said the gang had acted in at least 10 locations from January to February 2022. "They took action in 10 places, three of them in East Java," he said in Semarang, Thursday, February 17. The four arrested perpetrators were MW (48) residents of Bandung Regency, TH (39) residents of Tangerang City, AM (47) and SS (35) residents of Lampung.

According to him, these suspects have their respective roles, such as being a driver, people pretending to help the victim whose ATM card is stuck, and playing a role in exchanging the victim's ATM card. ATMs located in modern shops and gas stations. The stolen money that this gang managed to obtain, he continued, reached hundreds of millions of rupiah. Along with the suspects, evidence of a car, four toothpicks, and four ATM cards were also secured. the perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft.
