YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Government has again implemented PPKM level 3 and has ensured that it implements various restrictions on community activities in various sectors with strict supervision as an effort to reduce the potential for transmission of cases.

“After all, the meaning of PPKM is the limitation of community activities. Yes, there must be restrictions on various community activities," said Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 16.

According to him, the restrictions that will be enforced in the city of Yogyakarta will still be adjusted and refer to the national rules contained in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs and the Instruction of the Governor of DIY.

The restrictions imposed, he said, must be accompanied by supervision so that they are in line with the local government's efforts to suppress the rate of transmission of COVID-19 cases in the community.

"Even though at this time the Omicron variant is said to only have a mild effect, I need to reiterate so that people don't take it easy," he said.

The Omicron variant, he continued, could still have a fatal impact on vulnerable groups such as the elderly, especially those who have not been vaccinated and people who have comorbidities.

"Yogyakarta City Government wants residents to remain in good health and spread of case transmission even though the local government has prepared various facilities and infrastructure for handling patients," he said.

Isolation facilities for patients confirmed positive for COVID-19 have been added, namely utilizing Tower Two Rusunawa Bener which has 44 rooms.

The shelter supports the shelter operations at Tower One Rusunawa Bener which has been operational since September 2020 and the shelter at Rusunawa Gemawang which is currently not operational again.

As for residents who are self-isolating at home, the mayor asked all village heads and sub-district heads to monitor the patient's condition.

“The village head and sub-district head must monitor and know how many residents are self-isolating at home. Ensure that they can access good health services. Get medicines and vitamins from the puskesmas,” said Haryadi Suyuti.

On Wednesday, February 16, there were an additional 425 new cases of COVID-19 in Yogyakarta City with 43 patients recovered and no patient died. Thus, there are currently 2,334 active cases in the city.
