LUBUK PAKAM - A total of 59 houses in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, were damaged by a tornado. A woman was injured when a tree fell on her house.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Deli Serdang Regency, Parlagutan Nasution, detailed that dozens of houses damaged by the tornado occurred in three sub-districts namely, Batangkuis, Beringin and Pantai Labu.

"Tangkuis sub-district has 36 houses. Banyan has 15 houses and Pantai Labu has 8 houses. The total number is 59 housing units, with severe or light damage," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 16.

The tornado that occurred in Batangkuis sub-district, in addition to damaging dozens of houses, also injured a woman.

"Muspika Batangkuis has taken the victim to the Amri Tambunan Lubukpakam Regional General Hospital for medical treatment," said Parlagutan.

Meanwhile, the head of Batangkuis sub-district, Avro Wibowo, explained that the injured victim, Kamariah Ginting, was 70, a resident of Dusun III, Desa Baru.

"Currently, the victim is being treated at home. His health is being monitored by a midwife from the Batangkuis Health Center," he said.
