BANDUNG - The Provinces of West Java (Jabar) and DKI Jakarta were chosen as Co-Chairs of Indonesia in the 2022 G20 Indonesia Presidency U20 Outreach Groups based on the Decree of the Ministry of Home Affairs Number 193/2482/SJ.

The Assistant for Government and People's Welfare of the West Java Provincial Secretariat Dewi Sartika, Tuesday, in Bandung, confirmed that West Java Province would host the G20 International Forum series.

The G20 is a forum that brings together 20 (twenty) countries with advanced and developing economic powers in the interest of discussing important issues of the world economy.

Indonesia will host the 2022 G20 with the theme of the Indonesian G20 Presidency being "Recovery Together, Recovery Stronger". The Indonesian Presidency will officially start on December 1, 2021.

West Java Province itself was chosen to host the G20 International Forum series. There are three agendas in the series of forums that took place in West Java, namely Urban 20 (U20), Think 20 (T20), and Youth 20 (Y20).

According to Dewi, U20 is an "outreach group" meeting aimed at bringing urban issues to the forefront of the G20 agenda.

"U20 is a forum for local government leaders in U20 cities, including taking action on the global climate and sustainable development to national leaders. Commitments and messages from U20 will be shared with the G20 Presidency and heads of state," said Dewi.

According to Dewi, there are three priority agendas in U20. First, promoting productivity that focuses on developing "soft skills" and digital "skills" through empowering small and medium enterprises in urban areas that are environmentally sound.

Second, increasing the resilience and stability of rural communities and SMEs as agents of tourism transformation.

"While the third priority agenda is ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth through reforestation stimulus funding, company support, and environmental recovery funds to help develop a carbon-free, climate-resilient, and inclusive society," he said.

Dewi said that with the election of West Java as the host of the U20, information regarding the potential of West Java would be widely disseminated, especially to members of the G20. This is an effort to promote investment in the southern part of West Java.

In addition, Dewi explained that Think 20 (T20) is a global forum for think-tanks and experts to present a comprehensive analysis of the discussions that took place at the G20 as well as generate ideas to support the G20 in producing concrete and sustainable policies.

Meanwhile, Y20 is a forum for consultation and dialogue for youth as future leaders to raise awareness of global issues, exchange ideas, argue, negotiate, and reach consensus.

According to Dewi, there are three issues that West Java will discuss in the G20 series. First, the renewable energy transition. Second, improving the global health architecture. Third, the digital transformation of the economy.

"Hopefully West Java's participation in the G20 series can produce the best ideas and innovations from West Java for the world," he said.
