BANDARLAMPUNG - The Lampung Provincial Health Office (Dinkes) has asked puskesmas in the area to actively monitor confirmed COVID-19 patients who are undergoing self-isolation (isoman).
"For those who are undergoing self-isolation because currently in Lampung they have not received widespread telemedicine access from the central government, then the puskesmas will be the spearhead," said Head of the Lampung Provincial Health Office, Reihana in Bandarlampung, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 15.
He explained that with the situation of increasing COVID-19 cases and many patients undergoing self-isolation, the puskesmas were asked to actively monitor.
"Puskesmas must be active again, if there are people who undergo self-isolation, they must be monitored so that the patient's condition does not deteriorate," he said.
Reihana explained that the Puskesmas which is currently the spearhead for every district and city must play an active role in maintaining the health and safety of residents, especially those who are exposed to COVID-19.
"Never neglect to continue to actively monitor the progress of the patient's condition, the need for medicine and health services for those exposed to COVID-19 even though they have no symptoms or mild symptoms are also important to monitor," he said.
Reihana said for areas that are far from the reach of health facilities, the nearest puskesmas is expected to cooperate with the nearest village in providing health services.
"If there are areas that are far from the reach of health facilities, the nearest puskesmas can cooperate with the village, because those who know exactly the condition of an isoman patient are the nearest puskesmas. Because there are already COVID-19 posts in every village," he said.
In addition to encouraging the re-activation of puskesmas services for monitoring COVID-19 patients who are undergoing independent isolation, his party also continues to remind the public of the importance of implementing health protocols.
"Don't forget the health protocols, especially the use of masks, a lot of them are now being ignored. This should have become part of our daily activities, so don't forget it," he said.
Based on data from the Lampung Provincial Health Office, since the past week, there have been 1,758 residents who were exposed to COVID-19 and then underwent self-isolation spread across 15 regencies and cities in the area.
