BANDARLAMPUNG - A number of traders in traditional markets in Bandarlampung City complained about the limited stock of cooking oil in the market. As a result, the price of this commodity soared.
"Stocks of packaged cooking oil with local brands or well-known brands are empty today," said a trader at the Kangkung Traditional Market, Sum, in Bandarlampung as reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 15.
The supply of packaged cooking oil has been empty since the last few days. "There are no sales who bring cooking oil here, then they don't want to look anywhere. There are only two liters of premium packaged cooking oil, the price is Rp. 25,000 per liter," he said.
According to him, even though the oil price has been set at one price, the empty supply of oil in the market will make it difficult for buying and selling activities to run.
"We use cooking oil as a staple, because almost all food uses it. If the price is equalized but the stock is lost in the market, it's useless because we will sell it above HET," he said.
Pudji, one of the traders at Cimeng Traditional Market also complained about the same thing. He claimed that several of his colleagues at Cimeng Market had the same fate.
"Not selling a lot today, only 5 pieces of 1 liter packages left. Because I've been looking for empty. Many of my fellow traders are also empty, if there are only a few pieces and the selling price is expensive, some are IDR 25,000 to IDR 28,000 per liter , because the purchase price alone is Rp. 24,500 per liter," he said again.
He hopes that the supply of packaged cooking oil on the market can be maintained again so that the selling price per unit is in accordance with the Highest Retail Price (HET).
"The stock traders want to have regular stock, so the price is normal. People also have no trouble finding cooking oil because even in retail the oil is empty, not only in traditional markets," he also said.
It is known that the limited supply of packaged cooking oil in Lampung, especially in Bandarlampung City, has also occurred in a number of traditional markets such as Pasar Kota Karang, Teluk Betung where the price of cooking oil is sold at IDR 25,000 per liter due to empty stock.
Furthermore, the Tugu Traditional Market also experienced an increase where the price of premium packaged cooking oil from well-known brands reached Rp. 30,000 per liter, while packaged cooking oil made locally in Lampung was sold at a price of Rp. 25,000 per liter.
Meanwhile, the government through the Ministry of Trade has issued Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 6 of 2022 concerning the Determination of the Highest Retail Price for Palm Cooking Oil which has taken effect on February 1, 2022. Where the HET for bulk cooking oil is Rp. 11,500 per liter, simple packaged cooking oil is Rp. 13,500 per liter, and premium packaged cooking oil Rp. 14,000 per liter.
