The Increase In The Number Of COVID-19, Luhut: Banten, West Java, Bali Are Approaching The Peak

JAKARTA - The government is monitoring a shift in the trend of increasing COVID-19 cases from previously being on the islands of Java and Bali to outside Java-Bali at this time. This was stated by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

"The addition of cases in Java-Bali seems to be slowing but there is an increase in the contribution outside Java-Bali," said Luhut on Monday, February 14.

Luhut revealed that in the last seven days, the provinces of Banten, West Java and Bali became 3 (three) provinces with a trend of cases higher than the peak of Delta.

Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin also revealed that currently the trend of cases in the area has shown signs of passing the peak of cases. Then, before the trend towards peak cases shifts outside Java-Bali, this condition will occur first in DI Yogyakarta, Central Java, East Java, to Bali.

"I think that later Banten, West Java, Bali will be nearing the peak, yes and only later will it shift to provinces such as East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta and outside Java," said Budi.

Meanwhile, on the shift in the upward trend in cases outside Java-Bali, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartato revealed that currently the case reproduction number has increased to 1.13.

The contribution of COVID-19 cases outside Java-Bali to the national figure, said Airlangga, was indeed low. However, since January 24, an upward trend in cases has started to show.

"We have seen that since January 24, there has been a spike and we will monitor the next 2 to 3 weeks, the number of which is likely to increase again because as we know (the increase in cases) outside Java-Bali is usually slower than Java-Bali," explained Airlangga.

For information, as of February 14, there were 36,501 new COVID-19 cases with an accumulation of 4,844,279 cases. Meanwhile, there are 375,857 active cases.
