The Number Of DHF Cases In NTT Increases To 1,155

KUPANG - The number of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has increased to 1,155 cases.

Head of the Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Section of the NTT Health, Population and Civil Registration Office, Agusthina Rospita, said the number of dengue cases in NTT increased by 179 in a week.

Most cases of DHF occurred in West Manggarai Regency, where the number of cases this week rose from 204 to 212, followed by Kupang City, where the number of cases rose from 181 to 208 in a week, and Sikka Regency with 156 cases of DHF.

According to Agusthina, the number of dengue cases in NTT from the beginning of the year to February 14, 2022 is higher than the number of dengue cases in the same period in 2021 which was recorded at 661 cases.

"Last year, in the same period, only four people died from dengue fever, now it has reached eight," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 14.

He said cases of deaths due to dengue occurred in Kupang City, Sikka Regency, Nagekeo Regency, Southwest Sumba Regency, and Central Sumba Regency.

The NTT Health, Population and Civil Registration Office appealed to residents to intensify environmental cleaning and eradication of mosquito nests to minimize the risk of dengue transmission.

In addition, district and city governments were asked to fumigate using insecticides to eradicate dengue virus-transmitting mosquitoes in residential areas where residents are infected with dengue.
