SERANG – An Opel Optima sedan caught fire on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road KM 58.200.B, Sunday, February 13, at around 20.30 WIB. The car with the number F-1000-CF was driven by SF (34), from Merak to Tangerang.

"It's true that there was a car traffic accident that caught fire on Sunday night at 20.30 WIB, it is suspected that the car caught fire due to an electric short circuit," said Budi, when confirmed by reporters, Monday, February 14.

Budi explained the chronology of the accident. Based on the testimony of witnesses, that night the car was driving at a moderate speed, then suddenly sparks came out.

"It was discovered that on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at around 20.30 WIB, on the Tangerang - Merak Toll Road KM 58.200.B, when the vehicle was traveling from Merak to Tangerang in the slow lane or the left lane, upon arrival at the TKP the vehicle emitted smoke from the front cabin. Then the driver walked to the shoulder of the road, then the vehicle caught fire on the shoulder of the road," explained Budi.

Budi also said that the driver had been there for a long time, but there were material losses.

"Currently the vehicle has been evacuated by officers, the driver is also safe," added Budi.
