Ability Test, 2 Indonesian Air Force Elite Units Fall From A Height Of 1,200 Feet Fully Armed At Supadio Air Base

JAKARTA - Two elite units belonging to the Rapid Action Forces Command (Kopasgat), Command Battalion 465 and Air Defense Detachment 473, fielded as many as 102 fully armed special soldiers.

The hundreds of soldiers were deployed at Supadio Air Base, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan Province from an altitude of 1,200 feet.

"The activity, which involves the best infantry in the ranks of the Indonesian Air Force, is a form of capability testing in strategic object defense operations and measurable infiltration," said Commander of the 465th Battalion Command of Kopasgat, Lieutenant Colonel Wisnu Budi Saputro, in Sungai Raya, as quoted by Antara, Friday, February 11.

He explained that the 465th Command Battalion and the 473th Air Defense Detachment were the two elite units within the TNI-AU's Rapid Action Force Command. "In today's exercise we fielded as many as 102 soldiers with full strength," he said.

He added that the activity was a special exercise to train and at the same time prepare for the unit in the context of the call of duty related to maintaining state security.

"Indeed, to train ourselves and prepare ourselves, if at any time we are assigned as soldiers we are always ready, we are ready to carry out our duties to maintain the integrity and security of the country," he said.

He added, for the parachuting practice, as many as 102 soldiers were static at an altitude of about 1,200 fit, then for "free fall" freefall between 7,000 and 8,000 fit.

The Command of the Rapid Movement Troops has the same duties as other combat troops, but what makes it different is that the Kopasgat is responsible for the operations of establishing and operating air bases.
