Two Days Of Heavy Rain, 905 Families Of Bengkalis Riau Residents Affected By Flood

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that as many as 905 families of residents of Bengkalis Regency, Riau were affected by floods due to heavy rains for the past two days.

In addition, the flood also submerged buildings or facilities, including 1,274 houses, 3 places of worship and 3 educational facilities.

Plt. Head of BNPB Disaster Data and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said the water level in the flood in this residential area ranged from 20 to 45 centimeters.

"The total population affected by this flood is spread across five villages or sub-districts in two sub-districts, namely Damon Village, Wonosari Village, Teluk Village, Senggoro Village in Bengkalis District and Bantan Tua Village in Bantan Tua District," said Abdul Muhari in his statement, Friday, February 11th.

Currently, the Bengkalis Regency BPBD together with elements of the TNI, Polri, and other relevant agencies are at the scene to distribute logistical assistance, conduct rapid assessments, collect data and further coordinate related to accelerating flood handling.

Meanwhile, according to the BMKG weather forecast for the next three days until February 13, there is the potential for moderate to heavy rain that can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in parts of Rokan Hulu Regency, Rokan Hilir Regency, Dumai City, Pekanbaru City, Regency of Rokan Hulu. Bengkalis and Kampar Regencies.

Abdul Muhari said early warnings for heavy rains with the threat of hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and landslides had been informed to the public.

"BNPB urges local governments and residents to remain vigilant and ready to face the potential danger of aftershocks, especially at the peak of the rainy season in February 2022," he explained.
