JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has investigated the DPC Secretary General of the Democratic Party of North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, Syamsudin alias Aco regarding the alleged bribery that ensnared the inactive North Penajam Paser Regent Abdul Gafur Mas'ud.

Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, said the examination was carried out in a correctional facility. The reason is that Aco is currently serving a prison term.

"Especially for witness Syamsuddin alias Aco (Secretary General of the Democratic DPC), the examination is carried out at the prison because he is currently serving a sentence," Ali told reporters, Friday, February 11.

Apart from Aco, the KPK also questioned other witnesses on the same day at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters, East Kalimantan. Those examined were the staff of the Economic Section of the PPU Regency Regional Secretariat, Herry Nurdiansyah; Plt. Head of the Regional Financial and Assets Agency of PPU Regency, Muhajir; Secretary of the Public Works Office of PPU Regency, Safwana.

Then, investigators also examined the Head of Spatial Planning of the PUPR Office of PPU Regency, Machmud Syamsu Hadi; PT Borneo Putra Mandiri employee, Hajrin Zainudin; Director of PT Borneo Putra Mandiri, Fitri Astuti; and Employees of CV Karya Puncak Harapan, Awal.

Next, an examination was also carried out on CV Restu Mutiara Mandiri employee, Sultan; Employees of CV Syalsabila Mitra Sejahtera, Jaya; CV Pesona Bukit Berkah employee, Haerul; CV Tahrea Karya Utama employee, Yitno; and employees of PT Waru Kaltim Plantation.

"The witnesses were present and their knowledge was investigated, among others, related to the alleged receipt of a sum of money for the suspect AGM from contractors working on projects at the PPU Regency Government and the percentage values varied," said Ali.

As previously reported, the KPK appointed Abdul Gafur with the Plt Secretary of North Penajam Paser Regency, Mulyadi; Head of Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning of North Penajam Paser Regency Edi Hasmoro; and Head of the North Penajam Paser District Education, Youth and Sports Office, Jusman, and the Balikpapan Democratic Party DPC General Treasurer, Nur Afifah Balqis as bribe recipients.

These six people were named as suspects for alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services as well as the granting of permits in North Penajam Paser Regency.
