JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the DPR RI Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras said that Commission V of the DPR supports the construction of the Rancaekek double track and station.

"Commission V of the DPR RI supports the construction of the Rancaekek double track and station in an effort to improve service quality, increase traffic capacity, minimize freight costs, and logistics distribution," said Iwan in his statement in Jakarta, Thursday, February 10.

Then, he continued, the development support was aimed at reducing the burden of traffic congestion on the highway which could have an impact on increasing community productivity.

The Special Working Visit Team for Commission V DPR RI, led by Deputy Chairperson of Commission V DPR RI Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras, has directly reviewed the progress of the construction of the Rancaekek double track and station which will later function as supporting infrastructure for the mobility of passengers and goods.

Iwan said that the train is currently one of the most popular means of transportation as an affordable and safe public transportation.

Therefore, according to him, it is necessary to support adequate infrastructure and improve the quality of railway services optimally in meeting the community's need for rail transportation.

He said that through the specific working visit, Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives wanted to see and hear directly the progress of the construction of the Rancaekek double rail station, and take an inventory of development problems to be followed up.

He said Commission V of the DPR RI asked the Directorate General of Railways and related stakeholders to pay attention to safety and security aspects as the main indicator in preparing adequate railway facilities and infrastructure so that people get smooth, safe, and comfortable transportation.

"With the increase in railway facilities and infrastructure, it is hoped that more people will use rail services," he said.

The construction of the station and double rail at Rancaekek Station is expected to provide impetus for economic growth and regional potential which will have an impact on increasing the standard of living and welfare of the people of West Java.
