PADANG - The Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Health Office of South Solok Regency, West Sumatra, Yeni Efrianti said there were parents of students who refused to have their children injected with the COVID-19 vaccine.

"The movement of vaccines for children 6-11 years old is indeed a bit slow and there are obstacles in the field due to the refusal of some parents," he said in Padang Aro, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 9.

According to Yeni, the school principal should have disseminated information to parents regarding vaccines for children 6-11 years old so that there will be no parental rejection.

The Health Service has socialized the COVID-19 vaccine for children 6-11 years old to all school principals before the launch and so on, the task of the principal and teachers is to convince parents of students.

For the schedule for injecting the COVID-19 vaccine for children 6-11 years old, it should come from school, after which the vaccination officer comes to them.

"We are still waiting for the schedule from the school to vaccinate but the Puskesmas staff are still vaccinating," he said.

He said, since it was launched on Saturday, February 5, the achievement of vaccines for children 6-11 years old in South Solok has only reached 892 people or 4.23 percent of the target of 21,091 people.

In Sangir Jujuan District, there are no schools that carry out COVID-19 vaccinations for children 6-11 years old.

Meanwhile, in Sangir Sub-district, which is the district capital and the largest number of schools is SD Negeri 03 Liki, which is the launching location for the vaccination.

He added that vaccination for the public in South Solok Regency, dose one, reached 108,953 people or 75.69 percent of the target of 143,956 people.

While the second dose had 81,329 people or 56.50 percent of the target and the third dose was 608 people.
