PURWOREJO - Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Achmad Luthfi promised to release 64 residents who were arrested during land surveys in Wadas Village as potential locations for the Bener Reservoir, Purworejo Regency.

"We are not detaining but securing. We can secure 1×24 hours in order to provide security guarantees for people who refuse to avoid clashes with people who receive land measurements," he said in Purworejo, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 9.

The Kapolda conveyed this at a press conference at the Purworejo Police Station which was also attended by the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, Head of the Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN) Central Java Dwi Purnama, and the Regent of Purworejo Agus Bastian.

The Central Java Police Chief said that today 64 people who were secured would be returned, because they were secured 1x24 hours starting from yesterday until now.

According to him, the National Police in this case facilitates and secures activities and there is not the slightest activity carried out by the Police to injure the public.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, apologized to the entire community, especially the people of Purworejo and the people of Wadas Village, for what happened yesterday because some might feel uncomfortable.

Ganjar claimed to continue to communicate with the Head of the Central Java Police and the Deputy Chief of the Central Java Police to monitor developments in Wadas.

"We have agreed that the people who were detained yesterday, God willing, will be sent home today," he said.
