JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that anti-corruption counselors are extensions of its hands in various regions. Their role is very large and strategic in building an anti-corruption culture.

This was conveyed by Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar when giving a speech at a training event for prospective anti-corruption instructors for state civil servants (ASN) in the Banten Provincial Government. This activity was attended by 400 ASN who are teachers and Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP).

"Anti-corruption instructors can be an extension of the KPK in fulfilling various anti-corruption learning activities that are held independently by the community," said Lili as quoted from her written statement, Wednesday, February 9.

Lili emphasized the role of community elements, especially extension workers, in an effort to build a culture of corruption. This is because the institution cannot move alone without the support of anyone.

"We assess that the role of anti-corruption instructors is very large and has a strategic role in building an anti-corruption culture in Indonesia in accordance with their respective duties and roles," he said.

Furthermore, the KPK hopes that the anti-corruption instructor will be serious in carrying out his duties. This message was conveyed primarily to extension workers from the education sector, namely teachers, school principals, and supervisors. They are expected to be a bridge in the effort to implement an anti-corruption culture in the educational environment. "Anti-corruption instructors from the education sector, namely teachers, school principals, and school supervisors can be a bridge in implementing anti-corruption education that is more effective and efficient in their respective education units," said Lili.

On that occasion, Lili also ensured that her institution would continue to train anti-corruption counselors in Banten. This activity, he continued, is a form of implementing Banten Governor Regulation Number 40 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Anti-Corruption Education in Banten Province.

"In order to support the implementation of the Pergub, the KPK continues to train agents of change from various circles, ranging from structural officials, education staff, and government internal control officers within the Banten Provincial Government through training candidates for anti-corruption instructors," he said.

Until now, there are 2,047 people who have been certified as Anti-Corruption Counselors spread across 34 provinces in Indonesia. Meanwhile, for Banten Province, there are currently 98 Anti-Corruption Counselors who have been confirmed by the Governor of Banten Province, Wahidin Halim.
