DIM TPKS Bill Hasn't Been Sent To DPR, Kemenkumham: Still Drafting

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) has not sent the Problem Inventory List (DIM) of the Draft Sexual Violence Law (RUU TPKS) to the Indonesian House of Representatives until today. The Ministry of Law and Human Rights reasoned that the DIM was still being prepared by the government, in this case the relevant institutions that participated in drafting the TPKS Bill were the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Ministry of PPPA.

"The latest information on DIM is still being compiled by the government, so it has not been submitted to the DPR," said Tubagus Erif, Head of Public Relations of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, in a WhatsApp message, Wednesday, February 9.

The Kemenkumham's argument contradicts the statement made by the leadership of the DPR.

Previously, the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said that there was information from the DIM that the TPKS Bill would be submitted to the DPR on Tuesday, February 8, yesterday.

"The TPKS Bill, we heard (Tuesday, ed) that the government will submit it. We will immediately implement it according to the mechanism in force in the DPR," Dasco said at the DPR Building Tuesday, February 8. The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party said that the DPR will support the discussion of the TPKS Bill so that it can be immediately passed into the TPKS Law after being discussed with the government.

"Because it is the public's concern and the demands of the community. The DPR is committed to supporting this," said Dasco. Regarding the deadline for the ratification of the TPKS Bill, Dasco asked all parties to be patient because the repair process needed to be carried out comprehensively.

"We don't want it to be long, but because we are entering a recess soon, we will see later. There are many substances and the DIM was sent to us. We want to make this TPKS Bill well, we want to be careful, right on target ," he said.
