Third Wave Of COVID-19, Governor Of Lampung Orders Regencies/Cities To Restrict Community Activities

BANDARLAMPUNG - Lampung Governor Arinal Djunaidi asked district and city governments in his area to limit community activities that have the potential to expand the spread of COVID-19 cases.

"Regarding health protocols, all districts and cities must instruct their staff to the village level to limit community activities at risk of COVID-19," said Arinal Djunaidi, in Bandarlampung, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 7.

Arinal said this was done as an effort to control the spread of COVID-19 cases, the new variant of Omicron.

"Health protocols wear masks, keep your distance, don't gather together, don't stop urging the public, don't be negligent," he continued.

According to him, the Lampung Provincial Government has made efforts to anticipate the spread of Omicron from upstream to downstream. One of them is from the education sector by temporarily stopping the face-to-face learning process due to the COVID-19 case.

"This tightening of health protocols can be done through the application of the Care Protect application in public areas, PTM has also been temporarily postponed," he said.

The Governor of Lampung said that in addition to implementing health protocols, other efforts were to accelerate vaccination to the public.

"Acceleration of vaccination is also important, so immediately coordinate with the Ministry of Health on how many doses are needed, so that we can immediately give them to the public," he said.

Arinal explained that the acceleration of vaccination is also a way to immediately form group immunity. Then there is also the reactivation of the micro PPKM post at the village level.

"The village-level posts have been activated, the Lampung entrance has been tightened. Then health facilities, health human resources, medicines, oxygen, and a place for isolation or centralized quarantine have been prepared," he said.

It is known that positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lampung continue to experience a spike in cases where currently there are a total of 974 positive cases of COVID-19 during the period January 1 to February 7, 2022.

With the highest increase in cases occurring on Sunday (6/2), there were as many as 170 positive confirmed cases of COVID-19. In addition, 5 cases of Omicron have been found in Lampung and 1 probable case of the new variant of COVID-19.
