JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the government supports the development of the Army's defense equipment.

The Minister of Defense said this when receiving a visit from the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Dudung Abdurachman at the Ministry of Defense office, Jakarta, Monday, February 7.

Prabowo also expressed optimism that under the leadership of KSAD General TNI Dudung, the Indonesian Army will be stronger because Dudung understands the state of the troops on the ground.

"I am sure that under the leadership of KSAD General TNI Dudung Abdurachman, the TNI AD will be stronger and more powerful," said the former Danjen Kopassus.

Prabowo claimed to have known Dudung when he was a second lieutenant in Battalion 744 in Dili, East Timor.

"He is a field person and understands the state of the troops, soldiers, and cares about the welfare of his members," Prabowo said.

During the meeting, the two of them also discussed the development of the army's strength, starting from the defense system, personnel, to the welfare of soldiers to maintain the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia.

According to Prabowo, the development of the TNI AD strength itself is one of the Ministry of Defense's priority programs.

"The Ministry of Defense supports the development of the TNI AD strength which is one of the priorities," he said.

Meanwhile, KSAD General TNI Dudung Abdurachman said the development of the TNI AD posture, both defense equipment, personnel, and bases, was the main focus going forward.

In this meeting, Defense Minister Prabowo was accompanied by Deputy Defense Minister Lt. Gen. M. Herindra.

This meeting was a continuation of the previous Army Chief of Staff's visit to the Ministry of Defense on December 30, 2021. At that time, the plan for the modernization and readiness of the TNI's ground-based defense equipment was discussed.
