SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo had an accident while riding his bicycle, Sunday, February 6 this morning. He fell off his bicycle while traveling around to monitor public health protocols (prokes).

Ganjar suffered serious injuries to his right hand and is currently undergoing surgery at Dr Kariadi General Hospital.

The Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Central Java Secretariat, Agung Kristianto, confirmed the incident that happened to the number one person in Central Java. Based on the information he received, the incident occurred at around 07.15 WIB. Precisely at the end of the West Flood Canal bridge, in front of the Siliwangi Hotel.

"It is true that he fell off the bicycle. It happened around 7 am," said Agung when met at Dr Kariadi Hospital, Semarang.

Agung explained that the morning ride had become Ganjar Pranowo's habit. Usually Ganjar, who is from the PDI-P, cycles to stay in touch, visit, and interact directly with the community.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ganjar is also cycling while monitoring and socializing health protocols in villages and crowded places.

"Moreover, this is a holiday, yes. There are a lot of tourists and this is in order to monitor (conditions in the field) because the Omicron is on the rise too. It is hoped that there will be no crowds of people," said Ganjar.

Before falling off the bicycle, Ganjar had time to go around to a number of points and was about to head to the Semarang Old Town area. He also intends to go to the Johar Market Relocation to see the latest conditions after the fire.

"Jeneng (you) knows that every morning he always checks or works by bicycle. Earlier he was going to Kota Lama and Johar Market relocation. But when he arrived around Kokrosono he fell, his bicycle collided with a fellow bicycle," he said.

Ganjar is currently still undergoing treatment at Dr Kariadi General Hospital. He suffered serious injuries to the right hand, to be precise in the ulna. The wound is suspected to have occurred because it was used to support or hold the body when Ganjar's bicycle bounced.

"The wound was around his right arm due to a fall. The bicycle seemed to have bounced a bit. It is currently being treated. We pray together that he will recover quickly and be active again," explained Agung.
