JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno has played a role in overcoming the soaring prices of basic necessities in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through the OK OCE Social Movement, Sandiaga collaborated with the Youth Motivator to help ease the burden on the community towards the skyrocketing food prices through the OK OCE Youth Motivator Cheap Sembako.

"The problem that plagues the community at this time is the rising prices of basic necessities and the scarcity of supplies," said Sandiaga Uno in Jakarta, Saturday, February 5.

In mid-January, the price of cooking oil in DKI Jakarta reached an average of IDR 19,705 per kilogram, with the highest price reaching IDR 22,000 per kilogram. Even today, cooking oil is still scarce in modern retail and is still sold above the highest retail price (HET) in traditional markets.

Not only cooking oil, eggs also had an increase, but now it tends to go down and is stable.

Furthermore, Sandiaga said that the increase in the price of basic necessities made it increasingly difficult for people to meet their daily needs.

So, Sandiaga hopes that OK OCE will still be present to solve the problem with the need for the supply of these basic commodities.

"Together with OK OCE, we facilitate every mosque to process these cheap basic necessities. Thus, the mosque becomes prosperous and the needs of local residents are met. This is one of the concrete steps in the current economic recovery," said Sandiaga.
