CIREBON - The Cirebon Regency Health Office, West Java, stated that COVID-19 cases had soared again, with dozens of residents being confirmed positive within a day, and two regional general hospitals (RSUD) preparing hundreds of beds anticipating the worst.

"Currently, there are 137 residents who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19," said Head of the Cirebon District Health Office, Neneng Hasanah, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 5.

He said of the number of cases, 100 residents underwent self-isolation, and 36 others were treated at the hospital.

According to him, there are 11 hospitals that are ready to serve COVID-19 patients, both government-owned and private hospitals.

"Isolation was carried out in 11 hospitals in Cirebon Regency," he said.

The Cirebon Regency Government has two hospitals, namely Arjawinangun and Waled, which are located in the west and east of the area.

Arjawinangun Hospital Director Bambang Sumardi said the hospital would prepare 180 beds (TT) for handling COVID-19, out of a total of 368 TT in the hospital.

"About 50 percent of the total number of beds at the Arjawinangun Hospital are prepared to handle the surge in COVID-19 cases," said Bambang.

His party will prepare a TT for handling COVID-19 in stages. For the first stage, only 34 TT will be prepared. However, later when it reaches 80 percent, it will return to preparing TT, as many as 58 sleep.

If it continues to grow and has reached 80 percent of the TT, his party will add another TT for handling COVID-19.

"Later until the end, we will prepare a total of 180 TT for handling COVID-19," he said.

Meanwhile for the Waled Hospital, in anticipation of the surge in COVID-19 cases in Cirebon Regency, this hospital in the eastern part will prepare as many as 152 TT, or 40 percent of the total TT in Waled Hospital.

"Later, we will prepare 29 TT in advance. However, if it increases, it will be maximized to 152 TT," said Director of the RSUD Waled Luthfi.

He also stated that the supply of medicine and oxygen at the Waled Hospital was in a safe condition. As for the usability of the bed, currently 5 TT is used or 17 percent of the total beds prepared.
