AMBON - Maluku Regional Police Chief Inspector General Lotharia Latif said there were 52 conflict-prone points in this province. Nine of them are in Central Maluku.

"A total of 52 potential conflict points are in Maluku, nine of them are in Central Maluku. The root of the problem is almost the same as in Pelauw and Kariuw, this could turn into open conflict at any time," said the Kapolda when meeting the Maluku Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda). Central (Malteng) at the Masohi Regent's office, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 5.

Regarding the nine potential conflict points in Central Maluku, the Kapolda asked the local regent to take steps according to Law (UU) No. 7 to resolve it.

"Don't let it emerge as an open conflict and we will handle it, but prevention efforts must be carried out as early as possible," he said.

He asked the Central Maluku Forkopimda not to assume that inter-village conflicts, which often rage on, are commonplace.

The Regional Police Chief emphasized that every problem that often occurs in the community must be resolved as quickly as possible so that it does not happen again.

"The way to find the root of the problem and solve it is both customary and positive law," he said.

According to him, the security approach taken cannot fully create a security situation in the community.

"I encourage the regents and DPRD to follow Law No. 7 on Handling Social Conflicts (PKS). The TNI-Polri are ready to secure the regional government and DPRD," he said.

The Maluku Regional Police Chief stressed that all parties should no longer consider conflicts or clashes between residents that often occur as normal.

"Don't think of conflicts that often occur in Maluku as normal. If there is a social conflict, it is not only the responsibility of the TNI and Polri security forces, but all stakeholders have their respective roles and responsibilities as stipulated in the PKS Law.

In addition, the Kapolda invited the regent and other stakeholders to take this issue seriously together.

"We still have a big responsibility in recovering the Kariuw conflict," he said.
