JAKARTA - Ex-Investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Stepanus Robin Pattuju has been sent to Class I Sukamiskin Prison, Bandung, West Java. The execution was carried out on Wednesday, February 2 last.

This was done after the decision of the Jakarta Corruption Court was declared to have permanent legal force or inkrah. Stepanus was found guilty of accepting bribes related to the management of a number of corruption cases at the KPK.

"The execution prosecutor Hendra Apriansyah has carried out the Corruption Court's decision at the Central Jakarta District Court Number: 66/Pid.Sus-TPK/2021/PN.Jkt Pst dated January 12, 2022 with the convict Stepanus Robin Pattuju by placing him in the Sukamiskin Class I Correctional Institution," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, to reporters, Friday, February 4.

Stepanus will serve a sentence of 11 years reduced by the previous period of detention. In addition, Ali said Stepanus was required to pay a fine of Rp. 500 million which would be replaced by imprisonment for 6 months if no payment was made.

"In addition, there is an additional penalty for paying compensation for state financial losses in the amount of Rp. 2.3 billion with the stipulation that if within one month after the decision has permanent legal force, the assets can be confiscated by the prosecutor to be auctioned off," he said.

"And in the event that the property is not sufficient, it will be replaced with a prison sentence of 1 year and 5 months," Ali added.

The same execution, continued Ali, was also carried out against Maskur Husein. Maskur is a lawyer who works closely with Stepanus to take care of the handling of cases and also accepts bribes.

Maskur was sent to Sukamiskin Prison based on the decision of the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court Number: 67/Pid.Sus-TPK/2021/PN. Jkt. Pst on January 12, 2022. Just like Stepanus, he also has to pay a fine of Rp. 500 million and replacement money of Rp. 8.7 billion and 36 thousand US dollars within one month.

"And in the event that the property is not sufficient, it will be replaced with a prison sentence of 3 years," said Ali.

As previously reported, Stepanus was sentenced to 11 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison, plus the obligation to pay compensation of Rp. 2,322,577,000.

The verdict is lighter than the demands of the KPK prosecutor who asked that Robin be sentenced to 12 years in prison plus a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison. In addition, his application as a justice collaborator was also rejected by the panel of judges.

In this case, Stepanus and his fellow advocate, Maskur Husain, were proven to have received bribes of Rp. 11.025 billion and US$36 thousand or around Rp. 513 million, bringing a total of Rp. 11.5 billion related to the management of five corruption cases at the KPK.
