JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is waiting for data from the Financial and Transaction Analysis Reporting Center (PPATK) to investigate corruptors who launder their money with the help of other people.

Anyone who is on the list and has been involved in a previous case will be investigated by the anti-corruption commission.

"If later (data, ed) has been received by us, we will also have a review and then we will review it," said Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Karyoto in a KPK RI YouTube show quoted on Friday, January 4.

It's just that, Karyoto said, the Corruption Eradication Commission cannot take action against money laundering without a previous article of connection. "In us, the upstream is corruption and then the money laundering offence. That's when we can take action," he said.

"If it's just money laundering offences that don't stem from corruption, of course we won't handle it either," added Karyoto.

Thus, any incoming data will be followed up first. However, Karyoto ensures that his institution is always ready to take action against corruptors who cover up their corruption by means of money laundering.

"The point is that we are ready. If it is true that there is a follow-up report from the PPATK, we will follow up," he said.

As previously reported, the Head of the Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis (PPATK) Ivan Yustiavandana said there were various modes of money laundering by officials. Including, involving family, girlfriends, and other people.

This was conveyed in a working meeting with Commission III of the DPR RI on Monday, January 31 last. Ivan at that time said the phenomenon was actually not a new finding. In fact, a number of law enforcement officers have uncovered money laundering cases involving female friends.

"So, not only to family, but sorry, for example to girlfriends or other fake people and all kinds of things. That's what we call nominees," said Ivan.
