SUMSEL - The operation of Citimall Baturaja, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, South Sumatra was temporarily closed after a flood with a height of 2 meters struck in front of the largest shopping center in Baturaja City on Wednesday, February 2.

"For the safety of visitors after the flood, it will be temporarily closed. Later when the puddles have receded, Citimall Baturaja will open as usual again," said Citimall Baturaja Manager, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU), Rudi Alamsyah Siregar in Baturaja, Antara, Thursday, 3. February.

Rudi said that his party had requested assistance from the OKU PUBM Service to borrow heavy equipment in the form of an excavator to dismantle the culverts in the basement of Citimall Baturaja.

This was done because the flood due to the high intensity of rainfall was thought to have occurred due to a blockage in the culverts located just below the Citimall Baturaja building.

"We don't yet know which position is clogged with mud. Therefore, the culverts will be dismantled," he said.

His party is trying to lower the heavy equipment to dismantle the waterways in order to see the cause of the flood so that in the future this natural disaster will not happen again.

Regarding how much loss was suffered by Citimall Baturaja due to the flood, Rudi admitted that until now his party had not calculated it, but the value must be large.

"What is important now is that we try first so that Jalan Ahmad Yani in front of Citimall Baturaja does not flood again," he said.

Representing the Management of Citimall Baturaja, Rudi apologized to all the people of OKU Regency whose activities were disrupted due to the flood.
